Beach Ready: How to Keep Your Beach Bag Organized

Warmer weather is here and that means beach days galore! But before you hit the sand, let's talk about keeping your beach bag organized so you can spend less time rummaging and more time soaking up the sun. Here are some top tips to keep your beach essentials in check:

  1. Separate Bags for Separate Items: Use small, clear pouches or zip-lock bags to categorize and store your items. I always keep all my sunscreens in one bag. This includes SPF for the body, face, and lips. No more hunting down that elusive bottle of sunblock!

  2. Toiletries in Another Bag: Keep all your toiletries—like hand sanitizer, wet wipes, deodorant, baby powder and lip balm—in another pouch. This keeps things neat and prevents leaks from ruining the rest of your items.

  3. Dry and Wet Items Separate: Bring an extra bag for wet swimsuits and towels. Mesh bags are perfect for this as they allow items to breathe and dry out a bit, reducing that musty smell.

  4. Side Pocket Essentials: Your car keys and wallet should always have a designated spot, like the side pocket of your beach bag. This way, they are easily accessible and less likely to get lost among the sandy chaos.

  5. Snack Organization: Use a small cooler bag for snacks and drinks to keep them cool and separate from your other items. No one likes a warm, melted mess in their beach bag!

  6. Don’t forget the reset: When I come home from the beach, I head straight to the back deck to shake all the sand out of the beach bag, I throw the wet suits and towels in the laundry, and restock any items.  I put the beach bag back in the closet until I need it again.

Disclaimer for Parents: If you have small kids, I know one beach bag might not cut it! Between toys, floaties, extra clothes, and snacks, you’ll likely need more than one bag to keep everything organized. Consider a separate tote or backpack for the kids' gear to maintain some semblance of order.

With these simple tips, your beach bag will be the epitome of organization, leaving you free to enjoy the sun, surf, and sand without any hassle.

Happy summer!
