“Everything Goes your way, even when it doesn't”

February 24, 2024 - "Everything goes your way, even when it doesn’t" – Shana, one of my favorite yoga instructors at The Collective Studios, dropped this wisdom bomb on the 10am Flow Class, and it hit deep!

Life's crazy rollercoaster may not always stick to our carefully laid plans, but guess what? It often takes us to places we never knew we needed.

I'm a firm believer that there's no such thing as coincidences and that everything happens for a reason.

Take my journey, for example. I worked in the financial services scene for a whopping 17 years, dreaming of that high-flying career with the six-figure salary and the fancy title. Classic, right? But life had a plot twist waiting.

Enter the chaos of COVID, and boom! Declutterize with Dawn was born as my side hustle. In 2021, I started with a humble four clients. Fast forward to 2023, and my passion project was doing a victory dance – it was turning into something big.

As the corporate world woke up post-lockdown, things changed. The job I once adored became meh. The fat paycheck and impressive title? Nice, but no longer soul-satisfying. I craved a different vibe, and the daydreams got louder. I felt trapped - how could I possibly not want what I worked so hard for? How could I possibly walk away from all the “stability” of a traditional 9-5 (consistent paychecks, medical insurance, retirement plan, etc)?

After two years of internal wrestling matches, heartfelt talks with the hubby, and some serious planning, I decided to drop the mic. February 24th, 2023 – that was my last day in the financial services industry, and day one of taking DWD full-time. Exactly 365 days later, Shana's mantra echoed in my ears.

Coincidence? Nah, not in my world.

To be completely transparent, I do miss those consistent paychecks; however, I don’t miss them enough to walk away from what I’m building right now. Even with all the curve balls that 2024 has already thrown my way, I still feel that this is going to be a great year! And let me be completely clear, running a business is fucking hard, but I love it and I am so GRATEFUL that my career in the financial services industry did not work out!

This journey, full of twists and turns, shouts out the importance of rolling with change and chasing your heart's desires. It's living proof that life's detours often lead us straight to our real purpose. Cheers to embracing change, finding joy in the unexpected, and crafting a life that screams passion! 🚀
